 Every man and his dog was out to see the 'laowai' (foreigners).

Check the corner of the earthen wall in the background. It has been worn away by people (literally) cutting the corner.

 Fatty pork stewed in oils and chemicals for an inordinantly long time. It will soften your heart (albeit by hardening your arteries).
