Putting shadows and altering the shadows that are placed 'behind' text and images is very easy.
I often use the comment "easy' when i write about Adobe products, and the reason is simple: Adobe products are easy to use.
Anyway, here is how to add drop shadows to text and or images.
First, highlight the think that you want to subject to a drop-shadow.
In the below picture will will note that the "Printing-Online.com.au" text has been highlighted. This was done buy clicking the mouse once on the text.

Next, you choose: "Objects" > "Effects" > "Drop Shadow".

You will then be presented with a box that is similar to the screen shot below.

The vital parts of the options box are:
- The Opacity: this defines how dark the drop shadow will be. If is is 100%, then the shadow will be totally black. If it is 50%, then it wikll create a soft shadow.
- The direction of the shadow. If you grab the wheel with your mouse and turn the wheel around, the drop show will move around the text. The setting on the above box has the light comming from the top left, so the shadow will be created at the bottom right of the text (and this can be seen in the below image).
- The Offset. This effects the reach of the shadow. If the numbers are small, then the shadow will be very close to the text. If the numbers are large, then the shadow will travel a long way from the text.
When you have completed the options, press "OK".
The below image has two drop shadows, and they have been highlighrted with the red arrows. You will notice that the shadows are more noticable on the light colour (yellow) than on the dark colour.
